지난 22일과 24일, 3일에 걸쳐 차이코프스키 바이올린 콘체르토 연주회가, 덴버 아트 퍼포밍 센터 Boettcher 콘서트 홀에서 열렸다. 이 연주회에서 콜로라도 심포니는, 베르디의 'Overture to La forza del destino'와 제니퍼 힉든의 'Concerto for Orchestra I, II, III, IV, V', 그리고 차이코프스키의 'Violin Concerto in D major, Op.35'를 각각 연주했다. 이날의 백미는 바이올리니스트 안젤로 시앙 유가 연주하는 Violin Concerto in D major, Op.35 였다. 저음과 고음을 넘나드는 것은 물론, 빠르고 느린 바이올린 선율에, 청중들은 숨소리 마저 죽이며 음악에 열중했다. 이번 연주회의 지휘자는 브렛 밋첼이 맡았다. Photos by Adams VisCom 연극 ‘ 십이야 ’ 는 희극이다 .   영국의 천재 극작가 셰익스피어의 희극 ‘ 십이야 ’ 에는 재미있는 요소들이 가득하다 . 일단 , 극의 설정부터 흥미롭다 . 쌍둥이인 바이올라와 세바스찬은 피치 못할 사정으로 헤어지게 된다 . 바이올라는 , 자신의 쌍둥이 형제인 세바스찬의 생사도 알지 못한 채 , 오르시노 공작의 몸종이 되고 , 남몰래 오르시노를 연모하게 된다 . 삼각관계다 .   여기까지는 일반적인 삼각관계 스토리라 할 만 하다 . 하지만 ... ‘ 십이야 ’ 는 셰익스피어의 작품이다 .   셰익스피어는 여성인 바이올라를 ‘ 세자리오 ’ 라는 이름의 남성으로 둔갑시켜 버린다 . 변장이라고 하는 편이 더 맞을 듯 하다 . 그리고 여기에서 이야기는 극적 완성도를 높인다 .   공작의 지위인 오르시노는 , 올리비아라는 여인을 사랑한다 . 오르시노는 세자리오 ( 바이올라 ) 를 올리비아에게 보내 자신의 사랑을 고백하게 되고 , 아이러니하게도 , 올리비아는 세자리오에게 반해버리고 만다 .   이 이야기에는 , 이러한 희극적 설정 말고도 , 사랑스러운 인물들로 가득하다 .   이름 그대로의 광대 , 올리비아를 사랑하는 앤드류와 말볼리오 , 그런 말볼리오를 골탕먹이는 마리아와 토비가 그러하다 .   겁쟁이 앤드류가 , 세자리오로 부터 올리비아를 차지하기 위해 벌이는 결투에서는 웃음을 참기가 힘들었다 . 또 말볼리오가 마리아가 쓴 , 올리비아의 가짜 연서를 보고 노란 바지를 입고 나타나는 장면에서는 셰익스피어의 장난기를 엿볼 수 있었다 . 가히 , ‘ 천재 극작가 ’ 라고 불릴 만 했다 .   극이 후반부로 치달을수록 , 바이올라와 세바스찬의 거리는 가까워진다 . 그리고 이 두 사람의 거리가 가까워질수록 , 갈등의 실마리 또한 점점 가까워진다 .   모든 문제는 , 바이올라와 세바스찬이 쌍둥이라는 것 , 그리고 바이

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) will be home to the most comprehensive U.S. exhibition of Monet paintings in more than two decades when it presents Claude Monet: The Truth of Nature, in the fall of 2019. The exhibition will feature about 120 paintings spanning Monet’s entire career and will focus on the celebrated French impressionist artist’s enduring relationship with nature and his response to the varied and distinct places in which he worked. Co-organized by the DAM and the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany, Denver will be the sole U.S. venue for this presentation from Oct. 21, 2019 through Feb. 2, 2020. The exhibition will travel to the Museum Barberini in the spring of 2020.
