NAN DESU KAN, Colorado!s premier convention for Japanese culture and animation, will take
place Labor Day Weekend in its new home at the Gaylord Rockies Resort in Aurora, Colorado
Since 1995 Nan Desu Kan ("NDK”) has provided a home for fans of Japanese anime, comics,
music, games and culture. Originally a small gathering of fans on Denver’s Auraria Campus,
NDK grew into, and then outgrew, a number of Denver-area hotels. With its move to the
Gaylord Rockies, NDK settles into a venue that will accommodate thousands of attendees and
guests through many more years.
NDK!s first event at the Gaylord was to have been in 2020, but in keeping with COVID-19
safety measures the Rocky Mountain Anime Association (the non-profit organization that
produces NDK) and the Gaylord!s management agreed not to hold the event last year. Thus 2021
will be the convention!s twenty-fourth edition and its first year in the new resort.
Throughout the years NDK has brought fans together with the actors, artists and creators behind
the media they love. This year!s many guests include:
• Major Attaway. In addition to his voice acting roles (One Piece, Fairy Tale,
Borderlands 3), Major also performed as the Genie in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway
and will bring a cabaret-style sing-a-long performance called “Heroes” to NDK's Friday
night programming line-up.
• Billy Kametz. Anime fans know Billy form his voice roles in JoJo’s Bizarre
Adventure, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Cells At Work, Netflix' Aggretsuko, Persona 5:
The Royal, and The Rising of the Shield Hero. Billy also played the title role in the
Aladdin Music Spectacular during its final season at Disney's California Adventure.
• Dani Chambers, an actor known for her voice toles in Ace Attorney, My Hero Academia,
Fairy Tale, Marvel Avenger Academy, and more.
• Daman Mills, whose popular voice work includes roles in Dragon Ball Z, Final Fantasy
VII: Remake, Pokémon Masters, Fire Emblem: Heroes, and RWBY. Daman was also
voice director for Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a Starter Town?
• Alysin Wonderland and Heather Martin, cosplay professionals
• Dr. Alyssa Freedman, professor of Japanese literature at the University of Oregon.
NDK also provides an extensive offering of Japanese cultural experiences, engaging panels,
activities and demonstrations, contests, and shopping, as well as an annual charity auction. This
year, all charitable proceeds raised will go to StopAAPIHate.org.
Jeremy Pieta, NDK!s master of ceremonies and member of the RMAA Board of Directors, says
that the organization, and its staff of volunteers, is excited to bring NDK back from its brief
hiatus. "For many members of this community, both staff and fans, NDK is like a family. So
after a difficult year, we!re really happy to be bringing the family back together in a beautiful
new home.”
